Get to know Mid America Mortgage Services: Vice President

Here at Mid America Mortgage Services, we consider you a part of our family! So we thought you might like to know a few tidbits about us.

In today’s post, we’re getting to know Michelle L. West, our Vice President.

How long have you been working with Mid America Mortgage Services?

I have been with Mid America Mortgage Services a total of 25 and a half years.

Do you have any nicknames?

I don’t really have a nickname, but growing up, I was called Michael all of the time. I am guessing many didn’t know how to pronounce Michelle.

Do you have any siblings, children, and/or pets?

I have four people in my family. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in December 2018. We have a son, Kammeron, who works for Emery Sapp and Sons and a daughter, Bailey, who is a full-time preschool teacher and takes online courses from CMU.

Living on a farm we have several animals, horses, chickens and dogs. I also just recently got a Great Dane puppy named Birkley.

Where did you grow up?

I am originally from St. James, Missouri, known mostly for its wine business. My favorite place to visit in St James is Mermac Springs Park. They raise trout and have a beautiful cold springs area.

What was your first job?

My very first job was working at my dad’s auto audio shop and antique auto parts store. It was a lot of fun working with my dad and while working there, we restored my 53 Ford Pick Up truck.

What is your favorite movie of all time?

I really don’t have one favorite movie, but I do love “Gone With The Wind,” “Pride and Prejudice,” plus Disney movies and the Harry Potter movies.

What is your favorite song of all time?

I love just about anything from the 60s or 70s classic rock. Hearing them makes me remember singing in the car with my dad.

What is your favorite vacation you’ve ever taken?

My favorite vacation would have to be the 7-day cruise my best friend and I took the year we graduated from high school. We traveled to several areas in the Caribbean.

What is something you wish you could do one more time?

I wish I could interview my Great Grandma Hecht on tape. I spent a weekend with her many years ago and did an audio interview with her about her younger life, coming from Germany and growing up with polio. In one of my moves, I lost the tape and I would love to hear her voice just one more time.

If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

My mom’s Christmas dinner of Mostaccioli and baked ham. I have had that exact same meal every year of my life for Christmas and it brings back so many wonderful memories (in addition to the fact my mom is a wonderful cook!).

What is one thing you want people to know about Mid America Mortgage Services?

At Mid America Mortgage Services, we care about our customers. A business like Mid America is very rare these days. It is an environment that allows us to focus on our borrowers to help them make the best decision possible for them, not for Mid America Mortgage Services.

"My family owns Tiger Ice Company. My experience with Ralph at Mid America started with Tiger Ice because we needed to expand our facility. When we went in to talk to Ralph at Mid America, he pretty much was straight up with us and told us we needed to go back to the drawing board.
