Here at Mid America Mortgage Services, we consider you a part of our family! So we thought you might like to know a few tidbits about us.
In today’s post, we’re getting to know Heidi Singer, one of our Loan Officers.
How long have you been working with Mid America Mortgage Services?
I have worked at Mid America Mortgage Services for 15 years. I started as the receptionist while attending MU and then became a loan processor before becoming a licensed loan officer in 2017.
Do you have any nicknames?
I’m not a big fan of nicknames, but I did receive one while playing softball growing up. I was the youngest one on the team (I was actually playing up an age group) and played in left field. All of the other teams would tell their girls to hit it that way because they assumed I’d miss the ball.
I was given the nickname, “Hoover,” because I sucked up all the softballs hit my direction. The only person that still calls me this is my boss, Ralph. My old softball coach is a friend of his and told him my nickname, so Ralph thought it would be fun to keep it up.
Do you have any siblings, children, and/or pets?
I have two brothers, Chris and Walt. Chris lives in the Mid Missouri area and Walt leaves in Seattle (he has always been our world traveler and likes to live in the bigger cities). I have one little girl name Opal. I also have three dogs: Timber our first baby who’s a black lab; Haus, a chocolate lab; and Gus, another black lab who lives on my parents’ farm.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up just south of Moberly on the family farm that was founded in 1884. Moberly is most known for being the home of Omar Bradley. My family is distantly related to him. Moberly is also known for being the founding store of Ace Hardware and Orscheln Industries.
What was your first job?
My very first job was a receptionist for a Physical Therapist. I loved working for him, but hated having to deal with the insurance companies.
What is your favorite movie of all time?
That’s a hard one! I have so many favorites. I love The Notebook, Pure Country, Pretty Woman, Steel Magnolias, and The Sandlot.
What is your favorite song of all time?
I don’t have just one favorite song. I love “Fishing in the Dark,” “Cross my Heart,” “Unforgettable,” and “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not?” (This is the song my husband and I danced to at our wedding. It fits us perfectly. He was such a shy guy when I met him.)
What is your favorite vacation you’ve ever taken?
I love to vacation at the beach. My favorite spots are the Outer Banks in North Carolina and Orange Beach in Alabama. My husband loves Sanibel Island and I hope to vacation there in the next couple of years.
What is something you wish you could do one more time?
I would love to be able to visit with my grandparents one more time. They were all so near and dear to my heart and I miss talking to them every day. I would love for my Mama, Papa, and Pa to have met my little one. I was lucky enough that my Granny was able to meet her and share her love with her.
If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
If I could only have one meal for the rest of my life it would be a filet – medium rare with onions rings and salad from Pear Tree Kitchen and Bar in Macon. This makes my mouth water just thinking about it. The filet is always tender and juicy. The onions rings are thin, crispy, and have this magic dust on them that is so yummy! Their salad is always fresh with homemade croutons and the house dressing is delicious.
